Improving Scooter Mileage

Often when we consider buying a two wheeler, the first thing we look out for is the mileage. With the ever increasing prices of fuel, you would definitely like to buy a scooter which is easy on your budget. A two wheeler with a good power which provides you better mileage is what you would ideally seek out.

However, you can improve the mileage of your vehicle all by yourself. An average two-wheeler should give you a mileage of 50 km/h. A scooter that has a light weight would comparatively provide you with better mileage. By changing the gears on time, you can save a lot on the fuel and on your hard earned money. When buying a scooter, search for one that provides you with a good pick up, has a powerful engine and is high on mileage. A two-wheeler with these qualities would be easy on your budget over the long run. For saving the fuel consumed by your vehicle, you should maintain the speed of your vehicle when on road. Changing the speed of the vehicle too often results in wastage of fuel. Drive within the speed limit. If you increase your speed to more than 60 miles an hour, this would result in reduced mileage. Do not drive aggressively and you can definitely improve mileage. Drive gently and not rashly. Shut down the engine when standing at a traffic signal. If you run the motor unnecessarily, it would lead to wastage of fuel and money. It also tends to pollute the atmosphere. Do not pick up speed immediately from a stop point. Increase it gradaually. Don’t jump start.

When going out, make a list of the work that needs to be done and do them on the way. This would save your time as you won’t have to take uneccesary trips. Proper planning of the task will also decrease fuel consumption. Change the gear according to the speed. Try not to use the clutch and the brakes too often. Using these again and again would result in decreased mileage and affect the efficiency of the vehicle. Do not carry unnecessary weight. Extra weight is also a factor that affects the mileage of the scooter. Avoid using roof rack as it decreases the mileage. Other thing that you should do to improve the fuel efficiency of your scooter is to keep the engine tuned. Get it serviced on time and maintain it. The tires should be inflated properly. Check them from time to time for proper air pressure and for algnment. This can improve the mileage of the scooter to some extent. The oil of the scooter should be changed from time to time. Use the motor oil suggested by the scooter’s manufactuing company. This would provide you with a better milage.

These days people have the option to buy electronic scooters. They do not require any gas and run on electricity. You need to recharge the battery for the same. More and more people are turning to electronic scooters as they provide improved scooter mileage.
